Our vineyards

in and around Bolzano

Distinct Vineyard Sites – A Clear Sense of Origin

Our vineyards are located in and around Bolzano, covering approximately 5 hectares of estate-owned and leased sites. These are complemented by long-standing partnerships with carefully selected contract growers across South Tyrol. This diversity of vineyard locations allows us to cultivate each grape variety in the environment where it performs best. At the heart of our portfolio are Lagrein and St. Magdalener, complemented by Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Souvignier Gris.

Gries – the historic home of Lagrein

The warm alluvial soils of the Gries district in Bolzano are among the most historic origins of Lagrein. Deep, well-drained soils combined with a warm microclimate provide ideal conditions for producing structured, age-worthy wines. These vineyards have formed the foundation of our estate for generations.

Unterplatten (Renon/Ritten) – elevated vineyards with precision

With the acquisition of additional vineyards in Unterplatten in 2020, we deliberately expanded our range of terroirs. The hillside sites here are cooler and well-ventilated, making them particularly suited to St. Magdalener, our white varieties, and Souvignier Gris.
The interplay between valley-floor vineyards in Gries and hillside vineyards above Bolzano allows for a highly differentiated, variety-specific approach in the vineyard.

Work in the vineyard

Our vines are predominantly trained in the traditional pergola system, complemented by Guyot training for white varieties and selected Lagrein parcels.
Key elements of our vineyard work include:

  • precise yield management
  • selective hand harvesting
  • careful canopy management
  • sustainable soil cultivation

Our focus is on healthy, physiologically ripe grapes as the foundation for wines with authenticity and character.

Development and responsibility

With Souvignier Gris, we are actively engaging with resilient grape varieties for the future of viticulture. As a PIWI variety (fungus-resistant), it significantly reduces the need for plant protection treatments.

For us, this represents a long-term complement to traditional South Tyrolean varieties and part of a continuous, responsible evolution of our estate.

Origin as a guiding principle

Our grapes are sourced, among others, from:

  • Gries (Lagrein)
  • Unterplatten (St. Magdalener and white wines)
  • Entiklar (Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc)

Different sites result in different expressions. Our aim is to preserve these distinctions rather than to standardize them.

The style of our wines is therefore defined in the vineyard – not in the cellar.

Gries stands for origin.
Unterplatten / Renon stands for evolution.

It is important to me to bring character to the glass year after year. This requires unmistakable floors in the best locations, expertise and of course gut feeling. So there is a piece of me in my wines, of my personality, my style and above all of my passion for mineral, fresh and drinkable wines.
